Minudie's Creators

Minudie is a small, rural community set among ancient fields and marshes, with strong tides held back by dykes, just north of River Hebert on a winding loop that connects back to Joggins. It was said that the Mi'kmaq were the first to live on these lands, that they invited the french in Port Royal, also making seasonal hunting trips in the area, to settle here with their families. In the spring of 1672, six French men arrived by boat and built shelters. The following year, 12 families arrived and a permanent settlement began. After the Expulsionof the Acadians in 1755, the community was destroyed, but in 1796, a young boy was said to have set foot in Minudie and thats when it became a thriving community once again.
